Ford Re-Entry In India with TATA Motors Support?

Ford Mortars tried to reenter the Indian market with TATA Mortars Supports? News speculated that Ford is reportedly in discussions for a joint venture with Tata Motors to get re-entry into the Indian automobile industry.

Ford Motor Company is preparing to re-enter the rapidly growing Indian automotive industry. The company has obtained patents for several products in India, such as the new Endeavour, the Mustang Mac-E electric crossover, and the new mid-size SUV. Ford is reportedly in discussions for a joint venture with Tata Motors.

This joint venture will likely enable Ford to re-enter the Indian market by introducing electric and hybrid vehicles. The company has two manufacturing units in India, located in Sanand and Chennai. Tata Motors acquired the Sanand plant and completed the transaction without issues. Earlier, Ford was in talks with JSW Group to sell its Chennai plant, but the deal was cancelled at the last stage.

Ford Motor Company may use the Chennai-based plant to assemble or manufacture EVs and hybrids locally for India and other international markets in addition to its global SUVs. Recent patent applications from Ford Motor Company suggest re-entering India with the Endeavour and Mustang Mac-E electric SUVs.

Ford has also filed a design patent for a compact SUV that could be introduced to the Indian market. The company may also introduce a new SUV to compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others in the segment. Ford could use an electric or hybrid powertrain to power this new SUV. This new SUV may be called the EcoSport, but official details have not yet been revealed.
