Will the Jaguar Land Rover Cars manufactured in India be manufactured at the Tata Motors plant in Tamil Nadu? Yes, Tata Motors is planning to construct a new plant in Tamil Nadu that will be used by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to manufacture cars.
According to a report by Reuters, the investment for building this new plant is estimated to be one billion dollars. In March, Tata Motors announced its plan to construct a new plant but did not disclose the type of cars that would be produced there.
Tata Motors and JLR Partnership
The partnership between Tata Motors and JLR is growing stronger with the addition of this new plant. Both companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for JLR’s Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform. This platform will be used to manufacture Tata’s upcoming Born Electric vehicles, with the first model of this platform potentially hitting the market in late 2024.
JLR EMA Platform
JLR’s EMA platform was introduced in 2021 and will be utilized in the next generation Velar, Evoque, and Discovery Sport cars. The platform includes advanced features such as the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), cloud connectivity, and communication with other vehicles. JLR is also focusing on incorporating ultrafast charging technology in these cars.
Jaguar Land Rover in India
Jaguar Land Rover has been experiencing successful sales in India, with an 81% increase in sales in the financial year 2023-24. In that year, the company sold 4,436 units in India, marking the best year of sales since its introduction to the Indian market in 2009.
